Occasionally-Asked Questions
About marketing
How do you determine your prices?
- The following factors go into setting the price:
- How much work goes into the piece
- The price of the raw materials
- The length of time it takes to make it
- The quality, style, elegance, etc. of the finished product...
- and, of course
- What the market will bear, and
- Whether the piece is so nice we'd just as soon keep it.
Why do you charge state tax?
- Because it says...
Do you give discounts?
- Yes, if you are a gallery or wholesaler--perhaps even if you're not, if you order enough. (What's enough? Depends on the circumstances.)
Do you do consignment?
- Yes, even though we'd rather not, sigh.
About the work
Are there worms in the pieces with worm holes?
- No. Generally the piece is thin enough that I can tell by looking. But if there's any doubt, a few minutes in the microwave oven gives instant "urban renewal" of any worm community.
